The Kansas City Star, (MO) - December 4, 1991 REUBEN C. BELBIN Reuben Charles Belbin, 87, Basehor in Leavenworth County, died Dec. 2, 1991, at Providence-St. Margaret Health Center. He was born at Seal Cove, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, and moved to Chicago in 1945; to Largo, Fla., in 1983; and to this area in January 1990. Mr. Belben was an electronics assembler with the S&C Electric Corp. in Chicago for 22 years, retiring in 1969. He was a missionary in China from 1932 to 1941 and was pastor of the Open Bible Standard Church, Ravenna, Neb., from 1942 to 1944. He was a member of the Philadelphia Church, Chicago. He became a U.S. citizen in 1947. His first wife, Florence Stock Belben, died in 1960. His second wife, Eilen Danielson Belben, died in 1985. Survivors include a son, Willard "Bill" Belben, Basehor; two daughters, Christine Nelson, Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Eunice Stock, Houston; three brothers, Jack Belbin, Hammonton, N.J., Headley Belbin, Ontario, and Wilson Belbin, Wilmington, Mass.; five sisters, Elsie Maclean, Ella Diamond, Doris Woodard, Agnes LaPlante and Lucy Furlong of Quebec; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Alden-Harrington Chapel, Bonner Springs; graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery, Clearwater, Fla. Friends may call from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Elm Grove Baptist Church's youth center, Bonner Springs.
